This year’s club end of season celebration event will take place in the Sportshall at Madeley on the Friday 10th July – 7pm til 9pm-ish. The sportshall will be dressed up at one end for the event ready for presentations, buffet and a bar, whilst at the opposite end the curtain will be drawn across and a court set up for us to have a knock around as and when we wish!

This event will give us the chance to celebrate the various successes of the season including the National u16 Boys Title victory and of course the keenly anticipated NVL Most Valuable Player Awards.

Newcastle (Staffs) VC is delighted to be able to announce that we are now involved in a very exciting partnership with Stoke City FC, through a government support project called “Premier
League 4 Sport.” This project provides a wonderful opportunity for our club to drive a relationship with our local Premier League Football Club which will help us to extend our reach in to the North Staffordshire Community and inspire more young people into Volleyball.

‘Castle’s first ever Family fours night on the 15th May was a great success for all involved, with two hours worth of action packed volleyball across five mini-courts at Madeley. With the new huge ‘Castle banners providing an impressive back-drop, the club turned out in great numbers.

With such a strong history of Junior Development, it is quite a surprise to know that ‘Castle had not won the boys National under 16 title since 1982, and despite two subsequent defeats in the final (including the dramatic 16-14 fifth set defeat against Boswells in 2006) this was an age group title that had been away for too long! In the 2009 final ‘Castle were to take on Wessex, a team they had met at the Top 8s in March and beaten 15-13 in the deciding set of a truly nail-biting encounter, a match in which the teams actually finished level on points.

Newcastle (Staffs) topped a great season for Junior Volleyball by doing the double at Volleyball England's National Under 15s Finals, scooping both the Boy's and Girl's titles. On 29th March, the Boy's competition saw some legendary play from 'Castle, with the lads taking one set 25-0 against Tendring with Michal Hawiar serving a total of 30 points in a row leading into the second set!
