Junior Men
Newcastle (Staffs) VC has a long and proud history in developing the talents of local lads in Volleyball leading to a total of 15 national junior titles and innumerable junior national squad call ups over the last 30 years or so. The current junior boys set-up is founded upon a three tiered structure:
1 - Take part in volleyball - enjoy it, learn through 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and train once a week
2 - Decide that volleyball is a sport you really like and get involved in more training, attending the academy sessions on Monday nights
3 - reach a level of play where you are registered with the National League teams and training a minimum of 3 times per week (if attend Fenton 6th Form College then further sessions are available through the Talented Athlete Programme or TAP).
As a club, our principles are simple - that the technical complexities of volleyball can be learnt through playing games at 1v1,2v,3v3,4v4 and ultimately 6v6... the key is the high quality learning environment that is provided. At present in the 2009-10 season we have 10 boys training with the England National Cadet and Junior Squads, had 11 boys selected to play in the UK School Games and had numerous further selections with the West Midlands Regional Talent Development squads.
